International Students

The George Washington University (GW) is proud to enroll approximately 3,500 international students. Our students hail from six continents and over 120 countries. We take great pride in the diversity of our campus and the contribution of our international students to our success. GW’s international students are fully immersed in campus life and, like their U.S. counterparts, are eligible for an array of merit-based funding opportunities.

GW has a full range of academic and co-curricular support services available to all graduate students, as well as a wide variety of cultural organizations and other resources for international students. We encourage you to take advantage of all our services and opportunities, such as:

The International Services Office (ISO) provides assistance and information to GW international students, scholars and faculty. Some of the services provided by ISO to the international members of the GW community include:

  • Orientation programs for international students new to GW
  • A pre-arrival guide for new students
  • Immigration advising and information on immigration regulations
  • Social and recreational activities
  • Programs to foster intercultural relationships and learning
  • Cultural adjustment workshops and support groups
